Yoga As A Way Of Life:

An Introduction To Ayurveda

A 4-Day Retreat In the Beautiful Pocono Mountains, at The Himlayan Institute

Honesdale, PA

Two years after our first retreat at the Himalayan Institute, we are returning to the peaceful hills of the Poconos for a nourishing late‑summer retreat experience. This gathering blends gentle yoga, time in nature, and nourishing food with an accessible introduction to Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga and a traditional system of healing that teaches us how to live in harmony with our own unique constitution.

Over four days, you’ll have space to slow down and reconnect with yourself, recapture simplicity, and explore the deeper roots of yoga as a way of life.

What’s Included:

Ayurveda & Health Basics Practicum

Led by a senior faculty member at HI

Ayurveda offers a compassionate, practical way of understanding ourselves, our tendencies, needs, and the daily choices that help us feel more balanced and healthy. In this foundational practicum, you’ll explore your unique constitution (dosha) and learn how simple shifts in movement, nourishment, rest, and routine can support greater ease in both body and mind. No prior experience is needed; the session is designed to be welcoming, clear, and immediately useful.

Daily Yoga

Led by Rosie Latona

Each day will include gentle, all‑levels yoga practices designed to support balance, grounding, and inner spaciousness. Depending on the day, these sessions may include slow, gentle flow; restorative yoga; yoga nidra; or other calming, breath-centered practices. The rhythm of the retreat allows for one or two classes on the full days, offering a blend of movement and deep rest that complements the Ayurvedic focus on harmony and ease. All practices draw on Ayurvedic principles in a simple, relatable way—helping you notice how different movements, pacing, and breathing can influence your energy and overall sense of well‑being.

You’ll also have the option to attend additional yoga classes offered on the Institute’s regular schedule.
